Media influences the way we perceive ourselves, others and the outside world. It is often referred to as the "Fourth Estate" because it has the power to tell us what is real. In the 1960s, when people saw the first pictures of earth from space, the television images changed their perception of the planet. Some people were scared, and the people still arguing that the earth was flat were stumped and frustrated. In today's world, constant images, constant coverage, and constant voices entering our homes are directed by media channels and determine the way we see events. From newspapers and radio to more modern devices like the internet and social media, these separate mediums direct our attention and perception of what is real. The beauty and dangers of the media is created by its power to affect our perception.

The thing is that the media affects you. But it is also your choice to agree or disagree. You can agree in some ways and disagree in other ways. The media can’t lie, but they can sometimes make their own oppinions.
Media can make us see ourselves from bad perspectives; it can give us ideas of how a person should look. Make us see how ‘’perfect’’ the models are, and make us think they look exactly like that in person. Often the photoshop many of the models they use in media, make their muscles look bigger and more marked, their teeth whitened, change little details and they often it gets based on sex. Sex and violence in media have also lead to sex crimes in society. It traumatizes younger to think its ok to be violent or to rape people around them. Witch results to abuse in the home, streets etc. Youths often gets violent in school, home or in the streets after seeing so much violence in the media, it makes them think their cool and strong. When it comes to body and our look most of us gets negative effected of media, the models makes us insecure on ourselves. It makes us feel ugly maybe even fat, some gets anorexia because especially girls compare themselves with the girls in media, but what they don’t think about is that the girls in the media may been photoshopped.

Parents, children, teenagers and even grandparents can’t live without their phone or computer. The society has changed; we don’t need to write letters anymore, we have so many opportunities. The world is a lot smaller now then what it used to be. Many people like that the world has changed, but is the chance actually positive? We forget the important things in life such as to take care of your family and make memories, not to be addicted to media. Media has done amazing things to the world, we have a lot more contact with people from other places in the world. But should media be the most important thing? The media affects people in good and bad ways. It makes people behave differently and it changes life. It also makes people buy expensive stuff they don’t really need. The commercials advertise in ways that they use feelings and get personal so that people feel guilty, shameful and depressed. When people watch through magazines almost every single one of them wants to be like them, fit and massive or to be skinny and have large boobs. So they start behave and think differently. By the time a boy/girl turns 12 the media has shown this child 77 thousand commercials. Not only that, the media shows only one perspective of a case, the side they want to show us. They can control who’s guilty and who’s innocent. They can make guilty look innocent and innocent look guilty. There aren’t only negative sides about media. It can make people aware of what is going on around the world, about the global warming, the homeless people. This type of shit can scare people, and that’s why many schools aren’t allowed to shows commercials and advertises to kids. The media can control us, it can change us in huge ways and make us think differently.

The media has a different perspective on everything, and it’s always out to judge you. The girls and boys in the teenager’s age are very hurtful, and everything they see on social media infects them. If the media says “this is the perfect body” they will believe it. They will go through hard workouts just to look like the girls and boys on the pictures. And people who lives in big houses, do make a big pressure and everyone wants to be them. The media has always a sighs “how it should be”. And everyone is feeling the pressures. But at the same time, the technology is a good and bad thing. It can deliver fast messages and you can post fast stuff. But everyone should be careful because thinks can get out fast, and destroy a person.

A big pressure is put especially on the youth; the pressure of having good looks and a skinny, nice shaped and muscular body is getting bigger and bigger. Many sites can be negatively charged against groups, minorities, religions, and individuals, which can create stereotypes and make others believe bad things about a society or a group of people. Women, LGBT people, small religions and minorities can often get negatively labelled of people or groups with stereotypes towards them. Media has made an international society, which also means that children today grow up with the influence of the whole world and not just the town they live in. Children can follow the trends, and therefore today’s children also have a tendency of trying to grow up faster than children did ten years ago. On media, you can share whatever you want to; everything is only one click away. Privacy is not a quite known word anymore; personal information is shared very often. Because as long as you get many likes from it, it is okay, right?

Media is an old source of information so have evolved throw the centuries. There was a long road from newspapers to internet, but today’s media is completely different. We have come so far that under the tip of finger you have almost all the information in the world. Media is something so we will always have use for and it will maybe never change. Now media have great impact on the world and us. We have never before come to point where we was spending so much time at social media. It starts to be a big problem for people so have unlimited access to internet. We spend too much time on social media and we can find examples everywhere. Of course countries where people don’t have internet also don’t have same problem as countries like Norway. Other problem for today`s media is fake information. Maybe it doesn’t happen in radio or TV, but it happened to often on internet. People on Facebook share not true information, but everyone thinks that this is true. How does today`s world of multimedia affect us? Media is everywhere, technology makes media more accessible than ever. We do no longer need to buy a newspaper, today we can subscribe to our favorite magazine or the local newspaper on our phones, the same phone most of us struggle to put away. Today we are able to receive news updates just minutes after it happened. Advertisements are everywhere, we are more updated than ever before. Although media is expanding and technology gets better, not everything that comes with it is positive. Media is known for putting things in perspectives, and the angulations can easily be targeted towards a specific view of one case, leaving us a tunnel-sight which is excluding crucial facts and reliable sources. Professional newspapers requires a person to consider the ethnicity behind what the journalist has written before it gets posted for the world to see. We as individuals are not required in the same way as the journalists are to censor what we have written before sending or publishing it. Social media is dangerous, us as individuals have the ability to manipulate photos and show our pride through the perfect edited version of ourselves and sugar code the truth. There also bad stuff about the social media. If a person comes out and he says that he is gay. Many would have said bad stuff about him, just because they are different. The social media has many good sides about it to like; we don’t need to go to the store to buy a newspaper, we can buy things online and many other things. With today’s society it is hard to get away from advertisements and media. When you are on social media you will see advertisements, and when you are on your cellphone and play a game you will see advertisements, if you are on a website you will see advertisements from a website you were on earlier. Media can also influence you with the information we get from the news. This can be both good and bad, for example the information can influence us to stand up for something we believe in, but it can also make us feel bad about ourselves. For example the media and advertisements can make us insecure about our body because media tells us that´s how a boy or a girl should look like. Not everyone can afford the latest and most expensive object, so often those hoe actually afford those things feel better than those who doesn’t afford which is sad, because many judges other before getting to know them because of their “poor”. Maybe one of the reasons that it is so much cyberbullying is because it is so easy to make a fake account and write bad things to and about each other. It is so easy to just write things behind a screen that you wouldn’t say to the person in reality. Teenagers are much tougher on the internet than they are in the real world. One other thing about how the media is how fast things spread on for example Facebook. If someone post something that gets very much attention it will spread very fast and almost everyone will read or see it. This affects the society in positive and negative ways as it may be important news, or negative rumours about a person. The media might also change us like persons. ReplyDeleteToday we are living in a revolutionary world and within seconds, several bombardments of new inventions are happening around the globe, media technology being one of them. Media technology has changed our lives giving us the freedom to perform activities from the comfort of our homes. For example, it has made communication easier and quicker, a document now takes a few seconds to reach anywhere in the world compared to regular mail which takes several days with the involvement of several individuals to reach its destination. If we look at our daily life, we can see a reflection of technology everywhere in our lives, such as TV, telephones, computers, cell phones, PDA, text messages, email, internet, online banking, booking a vacation, GPS, online shopping, online education, online liberalities, online books, online gaming and much more. technology has changed rapidly; it is hard to predict what will happen in the next six months. If we ask a question whether media technology is good or bad, I believe there is no answer to this question. Technology is a double edge sword; it can be used for good purposes or for bad purposes. So I think that the media has changed the world we live in.
